A Healthier Community
Every Square Foot
The South Tower strategy team re-thought every approach to healthcare construction. With a challenge out to all project teams, Crittenton asked to put up a tower with the most fiscally and environmentally responsible approach. The result? An Integrated Delivery Project strategy that built a 165,000 square foot tower with some of the lowest cost-per-square-foot in the industry.
The new, six-story building comes with the expansion of Crittenton’s Cardiovascular and Orthopaedic Centers of Excellence. Patients and family members now have the privacy and even comfort of home in the state-of-the-art rooms. In efforts to bring in spaces for reflection and healing, Crittenton incorporated a flowering garden rooftop and a spiritual sanctuary to help keep minds, as well as bodies, whole and healthy.
The South Tower will also become home to Crittenton’s Wayne State University School of Medicine residency program, doubling their previous space.
But, the project isn’t over yet! Most of the existing hospital rooms in the West Tower will be converted to private rooms. Current funding has been provided from donations and grants, but we are still looking to our community for support of the Tower. If you would like help build a better community, all it takes is one square foot.
