Breast Care

Breast Health is a critical part of a woman’s overall health and well-being.  With that in mind, Crittenton designed the Center for Breast Health, aimed at caring for breast health throughout every stage of a woman’s life, and addressing any occasion for care she might need.

Developed by a multi-disciplinary team of skilled clinicians, and accredited by the American College of Radiology, our program takes a comprehensive, personalized approach that is focused on providing timely care in a warm, patient-centered atmosphere.

Our resources include care coordinators, highly trained specialists, the latest technology, genetic and high-risk assessments, and extensive breast education, all located in one state-of-the-art facility.  We build a team around the patient and work together to develop a personalized, evidence-based plan of care.

Our team is available to answer your questions and help guide you every step of the way.

One of the best early detection screenings you can do is have a regular mammogram. Mammograms are x-ray imaging of the breast and can help detect very early signs of cancer, potentially years before symptoms can be felt. Your doctor may also prescribe a breast ultrasound. While a mammogram detects very small calcification, an ultrasound is a tool to pick up larger masses.

Crittenton’s Center for Breast Health utilizes the latest technology, including digital screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, and breast MRI to help our patients pursue their best outcomes.  Our skilled radiologists are experts at reading and interpreting your results to you so that you are always in control of your health.

We now offer state-of-the-art digital 3D Mammography (Tomosynthesis). Also known as 3D Tomo, this is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools available for the early detection of breast cancer at outpatient locations in Rochester Hills and Auburn Hills.

Providing the best breast health care involves a large team of interdisciplinary specialists.

We start building each team with a care coordinator trained to assist you in communications between you or your family and your doctors. They will help you to understand your breast care plan, answer your questions, and provide ongoing education and support throughout your journey.

The team will be designed specifically to meet your personalized plan of care, including mammography technologists, fellowship-trained radiologists, and surgeons who specialize in minimally invasive breast surgical procedures.

Emotional support for you and your family is another important aspect of care that we provide. Crittenton Hospital offers unique programs to the public to empower our patients to take control over their own healing and care. These include:

  • Look Good…Feel Better – a program sponsored by American Cancer Society. This free service helps women undergoing cancer treatment learn to cope with appearance-related side effects and regain a sense of self-confidence.
  • Support groups for breast cancer patients meet at various times and locations, including a young survivors group.
  • Reach to Recovery – a service of the American Cancer Society where specially trained breast cancer survivor volunteers meet with newly diagnosed patients to offer support and information
