Online Baby Care & Breastfeeding Class

This comprehensive program allows you to see everything you need via an easy-to-use website and guidebook.  Learn at your own pace in your own home.  This program focuses on breastfeeding your newborn, baby care and safety, as well as mother care post-delivery. Once registered for this program, you will receive an e-mail with details within 5 days.

Childbirth Education eClass

Understanding Birth: eClass, is a unique online learning experience that provides comprehensive, evidence-based information you can trust as you prepare for your upcoming birth. In this class, you’ll learn all about the birth process and medical procedures through instructive video clips, animations, and interactive games. You’ll also get a sense of what labor’s really like as you watch several complete birth stories, and you’ll even have an opportunity to create your own birth plan! Included in your registration is a tour of the Birthplace at Crittenton and a skills session with one of our childbirth educators. Once registered, participants will receive an email with a link to the class as well as additional information within 2-3 business days.  You will have access to the website for 60 days from your first login.

Prepared Childbirth 4-week Series

Knowing what to expect prior to the birth of your baby will go a long way towards helping prepare you and your family.  Whether you are planning to give birth naturally or with the assistance of medications, this class is designed to help an expectant mother and her support partner prepare for the birth of her baby.  For your comfort, we recommend completing this series 2-3 months before your due date.  Please bring a blanket and 2 pillows. This series includes: Tips for staying comfortable at the end of pregnancy How to know when labor begins What to bring to the hospital What to expect in labor through the birth of your baby Techniques to help cope with the challenges of labor Medical options for labor and delivery Cesarean birth Recovery after delivery Normal newborns A tour of the Birthplace Dates: 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, 1/26; 6:30pm-9:00pm

Preparing for Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding provides the best nutrition for infants as well as a unique relationship between mother and baby.  This class will answer your questions and help you get off to the best possible start as a nursing mother.  A registered nurse/certified lactation consultant teaches the class.  Registration includes both mom and her partner.  Your insurance company may reimburse you for the cost of this class. Topics include: How to position and latch How to know if baby is eating enough What to do if you are having problems Breast care Pumping Returning to work
