Preparing for Breastfeeding Class

Breastfeeding provides the best nutrition for infants as well as a unique relationship between mother and baby.  This class will answer your questions and help you get off to the best possible start as a nursing mother.  A registered nurse/certified lactation consultant teaches the class.  Registration includes both mom and her partner. Your insurance company may reimburse you for the cost of this class

Birthplace Tour (FREE)

Take a tour of the Birthplace (Labor & Delivery Unit) and learn about where to go and what to bring when you are ready to deliver.  You can also check out the Birthplace page on our website for information and to pre-register for your delivery.  Registration for the tour includes the expectant mother and her support person.  No children under the age of 15 are allowed on this tour.  Registration is required.  Meet in the main lobby.

Prepared Childbirth Express

Knowing what to expect prior to the birth of your baby will go a long way towards helping prepare you and your family.  Whether you are planning to give birth naturally or with the assistance of medications, this class is designed to help an expectant mother and her support partner prepare for the birth of her baby.  For your comfort, we recommend completing this class 2-3 months before your due date. Please bring a blanket and 2 pillows. This condensed class includes the most important information covered in the 4-week series: Tips for staying comfortable at the end of pregnancy, How to know when labor begins, What to pack for the hospital, What to expect in labor through the birth of your baby, Techniques to help cope with the challenges of labor, Medical options for labor and delivery, Cesarean birth, Recovery after delivery, Normal newborns, And a tour of the Birthplace. There will be a break for lunch.  You may bring a lunch or purchase one at the coffee shop or a nearby restaurant.

Childbirth Education eClass (online class)

Our online childbirth class is the perfect alternative for busy parents needing a flexible class schedule or for moms on bed rest. Have you given birth before? This online class is a great refresher course! You’ll learn the same essential information as an on-site class, including what’s happening to your changing body, how you’ll know when you are really in labor, helpful comfort techniques, advice for partners, an overview of medical procedures, and much more. Understanding Birth: eClass, is a unique online learning experience that provides comprehensive, evidence-based information you can trust as you prepare for your upcoming birth. Included in your registration is a tour of the Birthplace at Crittenton and a skills session with one of our childbirth educators. Once registered, participants will receive an email with a link to the class as well as additional information within 2-3 business days.  You will have access to the website for 120 days from your first login.
