Wellness Series: General Radiology

Topic:  Radiology:  The Good, The Rad and the Revolutionary Presenter:  Katharine Scharer, MD Katharine Scharer MD General Radiology most often refers to diagnostic x-rays used to help identify disease or injury inside the body.  Radiologists are able to see inside the body to detect injury and disease, often in its early stages when the illness or injury is most treatable.  The basic radiology exams including general radiology, CT Scans, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine Scans, & PET/CT Mammography will be covered.  Radiation dose and more advanced radiology exams including 3-D breast tomosynthesis, low dose CT for lung cancer screening, CT for lung cancer screening, CT and MRI of the heart will be discussed in addition. 1 - STOP Screening: Peripheral Vascular Disease Screening

Are you concerned about your heart health? The 1-STOP screening includes several potentially life-changing assessments such as: blood pressure, body fat analysis, weight, health risk appraisal, peripheral vascular disease screening, and lab work. The lab work includes a lipid panel (cholesterol and triglycerides), fasting blood sugar, and C-reactive protein, which may be associated with an increased risk for heart disease. Once you have completed your screening, you will discuss the results with a family medicine physician. Participants must be at least 50 years of age. This screening could change your life. Cost is $25. After registering, you will be contacted to set up an appointment time.  If preferred you may call 248.652.5269 for an appointment time.  You must have blood drawn (lab work) done a minimum of 2 days BEFORE your 1 STOP Screening appointment.

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention
