Our online childbirth class is ideal for busy, expectant parents.  The eight-chapter program is an interactive, web-based class that uses videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities, and games to teach all the essential information parents need to know to prepare for their birth.  Once registered, participants will receive an email with a link to the class as well as additional information.

The CPR for Friends and Family Program teaches how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants and how to help an adult, child or infant who is choking. The program is designed for family members such as new parents, grandparents, young babysitters, and generally those persons who want to learn CPR that is not needed for employment. This class is not a certification class, however a certificate of attendance is available upon request.

Are you concerned about your heart health?

The 1-STOP screening includes several potentially life-changing assessments such as: blood pressure, body fat analysis, weight, health risk appraisal, peripheral vascular disease screening, and lab work. The lab work includes a lipid panel (cholesterol and triglycerides), fasting blood sugar, and C-reactive protein, which may be associated with an increased risk for heart disease. Once you have completed your screening, you will discuss the results with a family medicine physician. Participants must be at least 50 years of age. This screening could change your life.

Cost is $25. After registering, you will be contacted to set up an appointment time.  If preferred you may call 248.652.5269 for an appointment time.  You must have blood drawn (lab work) done a minimum of 2 days BEFORE your 1 STOP Screening appointment.

Your children may have lots of questions about your pregnancy, and a few anxieties about what life will be like with a new baby around! This special class for siblings-to-be can help them learn about the coming event in a positive way and participate fully in all the preparation. Kids will tour the newborn nursery to see tiny infants and learn where mom will stay. They'll hear a story, ask questions and get a special coloring book. They'll also pick up helpful pointers about caring for the newest member of the family. Suggested for children ages 3 and up.

Cost is $10 per family.

The Birthplace at Crittenton is designed with the family in mind with a welcoming space that soothes, comforts, and nurtures.  You will feel right at home as you welcome your new child into your family.  Expectant mothers and participants at least 18 years of age are invited to participate in this tour.  If you already have children at home, we would welcome them in the Big Brother and Big Sister class.

Taught by a registered nurse, class designed to teach the basic skills of babysitting. Participants must be at least 11 years old.   Friends & Family  CPR recommended in addition to the Babysitter training.  Certificates are given at the completion of class.  Participants are to be dropped off and picked up directly from the classroom.  Please bring a doll or stuffed animal to practice diapering. Please bring a snack, lunch and beverage for class. Also available, optional babysitting first aid kit.  Kit may be purchased online by registering for "American Red Cross Babysitter Kit".   

This 3.5 hour course is designed for Healthcare Providers including nurses, EMT's and Paramedics, Nursing Aids and others who currently hold a Healthcare Provider CPR card and wish to renew their certification. Topics covered include Adult, Child, and Infant 1 and 2 rescuer CPR,  Airway Obstruction, AED use, and Bag Valve Mask practice. With successful completion of a written and practical skills test, an AHA course completion card will be issued at the end of the program.

This 3.5 hour course is designed for Healthcare Providers including nurses, EMT's and Paramedics, Nursing Aids and others who currently hold a Healthcare Provider CPR card and wish to renew their certification. Topics covered include Adult, Child, and Infant 1 and 2 rescuer CPR,  Airway Obstruction, AED use, and Bag Valve Mask practice. With successful completion of a written and practical skills test, an AHA course completion card will be issued at the end of the program.

This program provides information and cosmetic advice to those with cancer.  Includes hands-on instruction on makeup and skin care, as well as suggestions for using wigs,turbans, and scarves.  Facilitated by certified cosmetologists.  Held in Conference room 2F.

Take a journey with your 4- to 6-year old, learning ways to gain strength, flexibility and exercise through yoga.  This 3 week series is a gentle way to introduce your child to a lifelong habit of staying healthy and active!  Yoga mat needed for each participant.

A grandparent can be the adult for the child as well!

This series covers all the basics and is a must for first-time moms! About two to three months before your due date, you will begin a series of Prepared Childbirth classes. Register early! If you want a coach with you throughout your labor and delivery, be sure to bring your spouse, partner, or a supportive friend to this series. Together you'll learn and practice special relaxation and breathing techniques to make you more comfortable. You will also take a tour and meet the staff of The Birthplace to help you learn what to expect when you deliver your baby, how to care for your newborn, and get a sneak preview of things to come.

Breastfeeding provides the best nutrition for infants as well as a unique relationship between mother and baby.  This class will answer your questions and help you get off to the best possible start as a nursing mother. You'll learn about breastfeeding, breast care, pumping, returning to work and all the breastfeeding secrets to success. A registered nurse/certified lactation consultant teaches the class.  Registration includes both mom and her partner.

This 3.5 hour course is designed for Healthcare Providers including nurses, EMT's and Paramedics, Nursing Aids and others who currently hold a Healthcare Provider CPR card and wish to renew their certification. Topics covered include Adult, Child, and Infant 1 and 2 rescuer CPR,  Airway Obstruction, AED use, and Bag Valve Mask practice. With successful completion of a written and practical skills test, an AHA course completion card will be issued at the end of the program.

This 8 hour class covers the fundamental concepts regarding First Aid and CPR and is designed for people needing certification for employment. Persons who commonly take this class include teachers, personal trainers, lifeguards, and athletic coaches.  Bleeding, shock, splinting, and burns will be covered as well as adult, child, and infant CPR and use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). An American Heart Association course completion card will be issued to participants at the end of the session.

This 4 hour class covers adult, child and infant CPR, foreign body airway obstruction, use of mouth-to-barrier device, and automatic external defibrillator training.  The course is designed for the general community & lay responders including security guards, lifeguards, day care workers, coaches, custodians, teachers who need a credentialed CPR class but do not work in the healthcare setting. Upon successful demonstration of CPR skills, an American Heart Association completion card will be provided at the end of the program.

This 4 hour class covers the fundamental concepts regarding First Aid and is designed for people needing certification for employment. Persons who commonly take this class include teachers, personal trainers, lifeguards, and athletic coaches. Bleeding, shock, splinting, and burns will be covered amongst other common first aid emergencies. An American Heart Association course completion card will be issued to participants at the end of the session.

This course is designed to meet part two (practice) and part three (testing) of the American Heart Association Heartcode ACLS on-line program. This two hour skills session will cover the practical component required by the American Heart Association to receive an ACLS Provider Card. Students will need to present their certificate from part one of the class and will then be tested following the prescribed criteria including Adult/Child CPR and AED use, Mega-Code testing and use of an Adult BVM. Upon successful completion, students will receive their ACLS Provider card which is valid for two years.

Please bring your certificate from part 1 of the Heartcode ACLS on-line program with you to class. The skills testing will take place in the second floor classrooms of the north destinations

This course is designed to meet part two of the BLS for Healthcare Providers on-line program. This one hour skills session will cover the practical component required by the American Heart Association to receive a Healthcare Provider CPR Card. Students will need to present their certificate from part one of the class and will then be tested following the prescribed criteria including Adult/Child CPR, AED use, and Infant CPR. Upon successful completion, students will receive their Healthcare Provider CPR card which is valid for two years.
