Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) Skills Session

This course is designed to meet part two (practice) and part 3 (testing) of the  AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers on-line program. This one hour skills session will cover the practical component required by the American Heart Association to receive a Healthcare Provider CPR Card. Students will need to present their certificate from part one of the class (available on AHA website) and will then be tested following the prescribed criteria including Adult/Child CPR, AED use, and Infant CPR. Upon successful completion, students will receive their Healthcare Provider CPR card which is valid for two years.

Childbirth Education eClass (Online class)

Our online childbirth class is the perfect alternative for busy parents needing a flexible class schedule or for moms on bed rest. Have you given birth before? This online class is a great refresher course! You’ll learn the same essential information as an on-site class, including what’s happening to your changing body, how you’ll know when you are really in labor, helpful comfort techniques, advice for partners, an overview of medical procedures, and much more. Breastfeeding Cafe

Breastfeeding provides optimal nutrition and bonding for your infant, but it does not always come easy. A community of support from other mothers as well as trained professionals can help you meet your goals.  This monthly group, led by a certified lactation consultant, is designed to provide support and education on common breastfeeding concerns. 1 - STOP Screening: Peripheral Vascular Disease Screening

Are you concerned about your heart health? The 1-STOP screening includes several potentially life-changing assessments such as: blood pressure, body fat analysis, weight, health risk appraisal, peripheral vascular disease screening, and lab work. The lab work includes a lipid panel (cholesterol and triglycerides), fasting blood sugar, and C-reactive protein, which may be associated with an increased risk for heart disease. Once you have completed your screening, you will discuss the results with a family medicine physician. Participants must be at least 50 years of age. This screening could change your life. Cost is $25. After registering, you will be contacted to set up an appointment time.  If preferred you may call 248.652.5269 for an appointment time.  You must have blood drawn (lab work) done a minimum of 2 days BEFORE your 1 STOP Screening appointment.

Prepared Childbirth 4-week Series

Knowing what to expect prior to the birth of your baby will go a long way towards helping prepare you and your family.  Whether you are planning to give birth naturally or with the assistance of medications, this class is designed to help an expectant mother and her support partner prepare for the birth of her baby.  For your comfort, we recommend completing this series 2-3 months before your due date.  FREE with this class, online breastfeeding and baby care class.  Information will be provided at the class. Please bring a blanket and 2 pillows. This series includes: Tips for staying comfortable at the end of pregnancy, How to know when labor begins, What to bring to the hospital, What to expect in labor through the birth of your baby, Techniques to help cope with the challenges of labor, Medical options for labor and delivery, Cesarean birth, Recovery after delivery, Normal newborns, and a tour of the Birthplace. Big Brother/Big Sister Class

Your children may have lots of questions about your pregnancy, and a few anxieties about what life will be like with a new baby around! This special class for siblings-to-be can help them learn about the coming event in a positive way and participate fully in all the preparation. Kids will tour The Birthplace to see where mom will stay. They will watch a video, ask questions and pick up helpful pointers about caring for the newest member of the family. Mommy & Me Yoga Series

Mommy & Me Yoga is a fun class for Moms to exercise after birth and enjoy time with your baby.  It’s also a great way to meet other new moms! CPR Healthcare Provider BLS (Renewal)

This 3 hour course is designed for Healthcare Providers including nurses, EMT's and Paramedics, Nursing Aids and others who currently hold a Healthcare Provider CPR card and wish to renew their certification. Topics covered include Adult, Child, and Infant 1 and 2 rescuer CPR,  Airway Obstruction, AED use, and Bag Valve Mask practice. With successful completion of a written and practical skills test, an AHA course completion card will be issued at the end of the program.

This one hour skills session will cover the practical component required by the American Heart Association to receive a Healthcare Provider CPR Card. Students will need to present their certificate from part one of the class (available on AHA website) and will then be tested following the prescribed criteria including Adult/Child CPR, AED use, and Infant CPR. Upon successful completion, students will receive their Healthcare Provider CPR card which is valid for two years.

ACLS skills session

This course is designed to meet part two (practice) and part three (testing) of the American Heart Association Heartcode ACLS on-line program (available on the AHA website). This two hour skills session will cover the practical component required by the American Heart Association to receive an ACLS Provider Card. Students will need to present their certificate from part one of the class and will then be tested following the prescribed criteria including Adult/Child CPR and AED use, Mega-Code testing and use of an Adult BVM. Upon successful completion, students will receive their ACLS Provider card which is valid for two years.
