Prepared Childbirth Express

Knowing what to expect prior to the birth of your baby will go a long way towards helping prepare you and your family.  Whether you are planning to give birth naturally or with the assistance of medications, this class is designed to help an expectant mother and her support partner prepare for the birth of her baby.  For your comfort, we recommend completing this class 2-3 months before your due date.  FREE with this class, mother and baby care guide book. Information will be provided at class.  Registration includes both mom and her partner. Please bring a blanket and 2 pillows. This condensed class includes the same information covered in the 3-week series: Tips for staying comfortable at the end of pregnancy, How to know when labor begins, What to pack for the hospital, What to expect in labor through the birth of your baby, Techniques to help cope with the challenges of labor, Medical options for labor and delivery, Cesarean birth, Recovery after delivery, Normal newborns, And a tour of the Birthplace. There will be a break for lunch.  You may bring a lunch or purchase one at the cafeteria or a nearby restaurant.

ACLS Provider

This one day course is for Healthcare Providers needing an initial or renewal certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. You must have a current BLS/CPR certification.  The class will last approximately 8 hours and will cover all facets involving the care of an acute cardiac condition. The class meets the criteria as set forth by the American Heart Association for treating adults in cardiac arrest and other life threatening cardiac events. Upon successful completion of a written exam and MegaCode, a 2 year American Heart Association ACLS card will be issued at the end of the class. Physician CME's, Nursing contact hours, and EMS continuing education credits are available.

Postnatal Care for Moms through breath and movement

Getting back to YOUr foundation through rest, recovery and rehabilitation. Join Ashley Gammon, Postnatal Fitness Expert, specializing in pelvic floor and core health and Kelly Muscat, Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Instructor to learn proper techniques to heal after giving birth. Through their own personal motherhood struggles and combined experience this workshop is formulated to help women heal in mind and body. With an emphasize, there is no timeline and once you become a mom and enter the postpartum phase, it becomes a journey of a lifetime.  With that in mind - Expecting, New and Seasoned Moms are always welcome.  No Children! In this workshop, they will discuss common, but not normal symptoms of a postpartum body, which may include diastasis recti, leaking/incontinence, lower back pain, painful sex, pelvic and hip pain. Then together, will guide you on how to alleviate these symptoms through education, alignment, exercises and breathing techniques to have a body that functions right. You will leave this workshop feeling empowered about your postpartum journey and have the tools to set a foundation for a strong mind and body.

Breastfeeding Cafe

Breastfeeding provides optimal nutrition and bonding for your infant, but it does not always come easy. A community of support from other mothers as well as trained professionals can help you meet your goals.  This monthly group, led by a certified lactation consultant, is designed to provide support and education on common breastfeeding concerns. 5th Annual Teen Night

5th Annual Teen Night.  Join us for a FREE EVENT just for teens and their families.  This year we will feature a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. This is a 24 team single game elimination bracket play. Each team will have four (4) players on their roster and be registered as a team.  Teams must be at their court at the scheduled game time.  If players are not on time they forfeit the games.  There will be a 5 min warm up with 20 min games and 5 min transfer time.  A coin flip before the start of the game will determine who gets the ball out-of-bounds first.  The ball will change possession after each scored basket.  Dunking is NOT allowed.  Tied games will be determined by a coin toss. American Red Cross Babysitter Safety Training

Taught by a trained instructor, this interactive class is designed to teach the skills of babysitting. Participants must be at least 11 years old. We recommend taking Friends & Family CPR in addition to the Babysitter training. Includes a babysitter handbook.  Certificates are e-mailed at the completion of class. Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS)

This course is designed for initial/renewal of medical and other health professionals including nurses and nursing students, physicians, EMS personnel, dental and other allied health professionals who need certification for a regulatory requirement. This program covers adult, child and infant CPR; one and two rescuer CPR; foreign body airway obstruction, mouth-to-mask, bag mask and use of an automatic external defibrillator. Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) Skills Session

This course is designed to meet part two (practice) and part 3 (testing) of the AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers on-line program. This one hour skills session will cover the practical component required by the American Heart Association to receive a Healthcare Provider CPR Card. Students will need to present their certificate from part one of the class (available on www.onlineaha.org) and will then be tested following the prescribed criteria including Adult/Child CPR, AED use, and Infant CPR. Upon successful completion, students will receive their Healthcare Provider CPR card by e-mail.

Dinner with a Doc: Atrial Fibrillation: State of the Art in 2017

Topic:  Atrial Fibrillation:  State of the Art in 2017. Atrial Fibrillation (AF), the most common rhythm disorder, affects more than three million people in the United States and is projected to affect 15 million by 2050.  AF can affect a person's quality of life.  The treatment for AF can be complicated.  Many new medications for stroke prevention and antiarrhythmic drugs as well as ablation and hybrid (combined robotic/endoscopic and ablation) procedures make treatment for this disease ever more complex.  Come learn about the many treatment options. Spine Surgery Pre-admission Class

This class is for patients that are having Spine Surgery at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center.  You will learn about what to expect during your surgery and recovery period.  You are invited to bring a companion that will be helping you after your surgery.  Please park in the South Guest Parking Deck (on the 2nd floor).  Enter the hospital through the South Tower Skywalk and  follow the Green signs to the South Tower Elevators.  Take the South Tower Elevator to the 4th floor.  Please have a seat outside the elevators and the staff will take you to the class. Please include your physician, date of surgery and type of surgery in your registration.

Prepared Childbirth Express

Knowing what to expect prior to the birth of your baby will go a long way towards helping prepare you and your family.  Whether you are planning to give birth naturally or with the assistance of medications, this class is designed to help an expectant mother and her support partner prepare for the birth of her baby.  For your comfort, we recommend completing this class 2-3 months before your due date.  FREE with this class, mother and baby care guide book. Information will be provided at class.  Registration includes both mom and her partner. Please bring a blanket and 2 pillows. This condensed class includes the same information covered in the 3-week series: Tips for staying comfortable at the end of pregnancy, How to know when labor begins, What to pack for the hospital, What to expect in labor through the birth of your baby, Techniques to help cope with the challenges of labor, Medical options for labor and delivery, Cesarean birth, Recovery after delivery, Normal newborns, And a tour of the Birthplace. There will be a break for lunch.  You may bring a lunch or purchase one at the cafeteria or a nearby restaurant.

Friends & Family CPR

The Family and Friends CPR Program teaches how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants and how to help an adult, child or infant who is choking. The program is designed for family members such as new parents, grandparents, young babysitters, and generally those persons who want to learn CPR that is not needed for employment. This class is not a certification class, however a certificate of attendance is available upon request.

Prenatal Yoga

Join a community of expectant moms to help physically, mentally & emotionally prepare for childbirth. Heartsaver CPR & First Aid (with AED)

This 6 hour class covers the fundamental concepts regarding First Aid and CPR and is designed for people needing certification for employment. Persons who commonly take this class include teachers, personal trainers, lifeguards, and athletic coaches.  Bleeding, shock, splinting, and burns will be covered as well as adult, child, and infant CPR and use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). An American Heart Association course completion card will be issued to participants at the end of the session.

Birthplace Tour

Take a tour of the Birthplace (Labor & Delivery Unit) and learn about where to go and what to bring when you are ready to deliver.  You can also check out the Birthplace page on our website for information and to pre-register for your delivery.  Registration for the tour includes the expectant mother and her support person.  No children under the age of 15 are allowed on this tour.  Registration is required.  Meet in the main lobby. Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS)

This course is designed for initial/renewal of medical and other health professionals including nurses and nursing students, physicians, EMS personnel, dental and other allied health professionals who need certification for a regulatory requirement. This program covers adult, child and infant CPR; one and two rescuer CPR; foreign body airway obstruction, mouth-to-mask, bag mask and use of an automatic external defibrillator. With successful completion of a written test and demonstration of CPR skills, an American Heart Association completion card is sent by e-mail.
