Please consider donating blood.  Did you know that 1 pint of blood can save up to 3 lives?  Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.  More than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day.  More than 1.6 million people were diagnosed with cancer last year.  Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment.  To make an appointment please call 248-652-5269.

Big Brother/Big Sister class

Your children may have lots of questions about your pregnancy, and a few anxieties about what life will be like with a new baby around!  This class can help them learn about the coming event in a positive way and participate fully in all the preparation. Kids will tour The Birthplace to see where mom will stay. They'll hear a story, ask questions and practice holding a baby. They will also pick up helpful pointers about caring for the newest member of the family. An adult must attend the class with the child.  Suggested for children ages 3 and up. Cost is $15 per family.  (Please include each child's name and age)

Childbirth Education eClass

Understanding Birth: eClass, is a unique online learning experience that provides comprehensive, evidence-based information you can trust as you prepare for your upcoming birth. In this class, you’ll learn all about the birth process and medical procedures through instructive video clips, animations, and interactive games. You’ll also get a sense of what labor’s really like as you watch several complete birth stories, and you’ll even have an opportunity to create your own birth plan! Included in your registration is a tour of the Birthplace at Crittenton and a skills session with one of our childbirth educators. 1 - STOP Screening: Peripheral Vascular Disease Screening

Are you concerned about your heart health? The 1-STOP screening includes several potentially life-changing assessments such as: blood pressure, body fat analysis, weight, health risk appraisal, peripheral vascular disease screening, and lab work. The lab work includes a lipid panel (cholesterol and triglycerides), fasting blood sugar, and C-reactive protein, which may be associated with an increased risk for heart disease. Once you have completed your screening, you will discuss the results with a family medicine physician. Participants must be at least 50 years of age. This screening could change your life. Cost is $25. After registering, you will be contacted to set up an appointment time.  If preferred you may call 248.652.5269 for an appointment time.  You must have blood drawn (lab work) done a minimum of 2 days BEFORE your 1 STOP Screening appointment.

Knowing what to expect prior to the birth of your baby will go a long way towards helping prepare you and your family.  Whether you are planning to give birth naturally or with the assistance of medications, this class is designed to help an expectant mother and her support partner prepare for the birth of her baby.  For your comfort, we recommend completing this class 2-3 months before your due date.  Please bring a blanket and 2 pillows. This condensed class includes the most important information covered in the 4-week series: Tips for staying comfortable at the end of pregnancy, How to know when labor begins, What to pack for the hospital, What to expect in labor through the birth of your baby, Techniques to help cope with the challenges of labor, Medical options for labor and delivery, Cesarean birth, Recovery after delivery, Normal newborns, A tour of the Birthplace. Prenatal Yoga Series

Join a community of expectant moms to help physically, mentally & emotionally prepare for childbirth. You will learn various gentle yoga poses and breathing techniques to help create ease and comfort during pregnancy and labor. This prenatal yoga class is for women at all stages of pregnancy and any fitness level.  No previous yoga experience necessary. Young Expectant Parent Class

This class is specifically designed for young women (ages 20 and under) who are expecting their first baby.  This class will prepare the expectant mother for labor and delivery.  We will also provide guidance on pregnancy, parenting and available resources.  Class should be completed between the 24th to 34th week of pregnancy.  Expectant mothers are encouraged to bring one or two support people.  Please bring a blanket, pillows, and snacks/drinks for the day. PALS Provider

The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. American Red Cross Babysitter Safety 2-Day Training

This 2-day training meets Friday, 5:30pm-8:30pm and Saturday, 9:00am-12:30pm.  Taught by a trained instructor, this interactive class is designed to teach the skills of babysitting. Participants must be at least 11 years old. We recommend taking Friends & Family CPR in addition to the Babysitter training. Registration fee includes a babysitter handbook, CD-ROM with additional resources, and certification ($15 value).  Certificates are e-mailed at the completion of class.
