Online Baby Care & Breastfeeding Class

This comprehensive program allows you to see everything you need via an easy-to-use website and guidebook.  Learn at your own pace in your own home.  This program focuses on breastfeeding your newborn, baby care and safety, as well as mother care post-delivery. Childbirth Education eClass

Understanding Birth: eClass, is a unique online learning experience that provides comprehensive, evidence-based information you can trust as you prepare for your upcoming birth. In this class, you’ll learn all about the birth process and medical procedures through instructive video clips, animations, and interactive games. You’ll also get a sense of what labor’s really like as you watch several complete birth stories, and you’ll even have an opportunity to create your own birth plan! Included in your registration is a tour of the Birthplace at Crittenton and a skills session with one of our childbirth educators. Once registered, participants will receive an email with a link to the class as well as additional information within 2-3 business days.  You will have access to the website for 60 days from your first login.

Matter of Balance

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activites. Prepared Childbirth 4-week series

Knowing what to expect prior to the birth of your baby will go a long way towards helping prepare you and your family.  Whether you are planning to give birth naturally or with the assistance of medications, this class is designed to help an expectant mother and her support partner prepare for the birth of her baby.  For your comfort, we recommend completing this series 2-3 months before your due date.  Please bring a blanket and 2 pillows. This series includes: Tips for staying comfortable at the end of pregnancy, How to know when labor begins, What to bring to the hospital, What to expect in labor through the birth of your baby, Techniques to help cope with the challenges of labor, Medical options for labor and delivery, Cesarean birth, Recovery after delivery, Normal newborns, A tour of the Birthplace. CPR Healthcare Provider (BLS)

This course is designed for medical and other health professionals including nurses and nursing students, physicians, EMS personnel, dental and other allied health professionals who need certification for a regulatory requirement. This program covers adult, child and infant CPR; one and two rescuer CPR; foreign body airway obstruction, mouth-to-mask, bag mask and use of an automatic external defibrillator. With successful completion of a written test and demonstration of CPR skills, an American Heart Association completion card is given.

Big Brother/Big Sister Class

Your children may have lots of questions about your pregnancy, and a few anxieties about what life will be like with a new baby around!  This class can help them learn about the coming event in a positive way and participate fully in all the preparation. Kids will tour The Birthplace to see where mom will stay. They'll hear a story, ask questions and practice holding a baby. They will also pick up helpful pointers about caring for the newest member of the family. An adult must attend the class with the child.  Suggested for children ages 3 and up. American Red Cross Babysitter Safety Training

Taught by a certified instructor, this interactive class is designed to teach the skills of babysitting. Participants must be at least 11 years old. We recommend taking Friends & Family CPR in addition to the Babysitter training. Registration fee includes a babysitter handbook, CD-ROM with additional materials, and certification ($15 value).  Certificates are e-mailed at the completion of class.
