HypnoBirthing, A Calmer Birthing Experience

Crittenton Hospital Medical Center’s HypnoBirthing® class is helping parents prepare for and achieve a calmer and more relaxed birth process. This childbirth method utilizes deep relaxation, visualization, and self hypnosis techniques and is a wonderful option for mothers who wish to avoid medication use during delivery.

HypnoBirthing is a childbirth method that focuses on preparing parents for gentle birth.  Participants will learn proven techniques of deep relaxation, visualization, and self-hypnosis.  This state of relaxation is similar to daydreaming or the feeling of becoming lost in a movie or book.  All of these methods are designed to help mothers achieve a more comfortable and relaxed birth.

“We are proud to offer this course for soon to-be parents,” says Cambi Hempstead, RN, Community Health and Education Coordinator at Crittenton. “HypnoBirthing provides moms with extra preparation for childbirth by helping them focus on their inner birthing instincts and allowing them to be more comfortable and relaxed during the delivery of their babies.”

Crittenton Hospital Medical Center was the second hospital in Michigan to offer a HypnoBirthing® program and join the designated supportive Care Providers & Birthing Facilities. Cambi Hempstead, RN, Community Health and education Coordinator at Crittenton, was one of the first certified HypnoBirthing practitioners in the state.
