The new Orion Center will provide activities, classes, and education for senior members of the community and will bepartnering with Crittenton to establish the Crittenton Wellness Center at the Orion Center. The new 27,000-square-foot facility, which will be similar to the one located at the Older Persons’ Commission (OPC) in Rochester, will be staffed by a Crittenton nurse who can answer questions and provide health resources. In October, Crittenton will begin sponsoring health screenings at the center for the following:
- Blood sugar
- Blood pressure
- Bone density
- Cholesterol
- Hearing tests
- Peripheral vascular disease
- Prostate-specific antigen
The Crittenton Wellness Center at the Orion Center will also offer flu shot clinics, educational seminars, and “Ask the Doctor” programs for Orion Center members. “Our partnership with the Orion Center will enhance the health status of senior members of the community,” says Cindy McKenna, RN, Clinical Outreach Coordinator of the Crittenton Wellness Center at the OPC. “We hope to extend compassion while promoting wellness.”
