1 STOP SCREENING
Are you concerned about your heart health? The 1 STOP screening includes life-changing assessments, such as: blood pressure, body fat analysis, weight, health risk appraisal, peripheral vascular disease screening, and lab work. The lab work includes a lipid panel (cholesterol and triglycerides), fasting blood sugar, and C-reactive protein, which may be associated with an increased risk of heart disease when elevated. Then you are tested for peripheral vascular disease (PVD). People at highest risk for PVD and other vascular diseases include those age 50 and older, those with a family history of vascular disease or diabetes, those with high blood pressure or high cholesterol, those who smoke, and those who are overweight or who have an inactive lifestyle. The ABI (ankle-brachial index) test used for the PVD screening, uses sound waves to find out if there is reduced blood flow in the peripheral arteries. The test compares the blood pressure in your ankles with the blood pressure in your arms. Once you have completed the screening, you will discuss the results with a family medicine physician. Call 248-652-5269 to register. Cost is $25.
