The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Department at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center offers a wide array of services for patients requiring high risk or perinatal obstetrical care. George Kazzi, M.D., MBA, FACOG, Medical Director of Perinatology Services at Crittenton, is available Monday – Thursday afternoons at Crittenton for consultations. His office is located on the second floor, near Labor and Delivery and Mother-Baby Unit. To schedule a consultation or ultrasound appointment, call (248) 652-5547.
Some of these services include:
- Comprehensive obstetrical ultrasound performed by highly-trained, registered ultrasonagraphers, with all films reviewed by Crittenton’s maternal-fetal medicine specialist
- Genetic amniocentesis and counseling
- Lung-maturity amniocentesis
- Diagnosing, consulting and treating obstetrical patients experiencing medical complications such as cardiac, pulmonary, metabolic and connective tissue disorders, as well as fetal malformations, conditions and diseases
- Preconception counseling
- Fetal echocardiograms performed at Crittenton by board-certified pediatric cardiologists from Children’s Hospital of Michigan
- On-site antenatal testing – non-stress tests, bio-physical profiles and umbilical Doppler exams
- Comprehensive care for patients with gestational diabetes in conjunction with Crittenton’s Diabetes Educational and Nutritional Counseling Center
- On-staff perinatology coordinator assists in follow-up with patient care and coordination of appointments; injection instructions; review of lab work and glucose logs; and acts as liaison with both Labor and Delivery staff and attending physicians
