Getting Ready for Baby! You have lots to do as you prepare for your baby’s birth. Choosing names, decorating the nursery and planning for your delivery, adjusting to the physical and emotional changes pregnancy brings. Our childbirth classes preparation classes will help you feel ready and relaxed about your labor and delivery, and confident about your new role as a parent.
Prepared Childbirth.
This series covers all the basics and is a must for first-time moms! About two to three months before your due date, you will begin a series of Prepared Childbirth classes. You will learn and practice special relaxation and breathing techniques to make you more comfortable. You will also take a tour and meet the staff of the Birthplace at Crittenton to help you learn what to expect when you deliver your baby, how to care for your newborn, and get a sneak preview of things to come.
If this is your first baby, you should register for the complete Prepared Childbirth series. If you’ve had a baby in the last five years and previously attended a class, you may register for our Prepared Childbirth Refresher Course. If it’s been more that five years since you’ve delivered, we recommend you take the entire Prepared Childbirth series.
Prepared Childbirth Express
This Prepared Childbirth class is offered on one Saturday for couples who do not have time to attend the regular weekly series.
HypnoBirthing® HypnoBirthing is a combination of relaxation, breathing, and visualization techniques that are used to control pain during labor and childbirth. HypnoBirthing helps women build confidence in themselves and their bodies by introducing ways to create deep relaxation, which allows the body's muscles to work the way they are intended during childbirth.
Cesarean Class
Are you planning to deliver your baby by Cesarean section? Crittenton offers a special class to help you prepare for childbirth, too.
Vaginal Birth After Cesarean
If you’ve had a Cesarean section before, but are looking forward to natural childbirth for this baby, you’ll want to take these classes. We’ll answer any questions you might have and cover information unique to vaginal birth after a Cesarean section. This series includes a refresher to reacquaint you with breathing and relaxation techniques.
Preparing for Breastfeeding
Will you breastfeed your baby? Do you want more information about nursing before you make your decision? This special class can answer your questions and help you get off to the best possible start as a nursing mother.You’ll learn about diet requirements, breast care and all the breastfeeding secrets to success. A registered nurse and certified lactation consultant teaches the class and will visit you in the hospital after your baby is born to make sure you’re feeling relaxed and ready to nurse.
Breastfeeding & Pumping After the First 2 Weeks
Have you delivered your baby and are you wanting additional information regarding breast pumping and if applicable returning to work. This additional breastfeeding class covers returning to work, breast pumping, introduction of the bottle, and post partum adjustment.
Your babies are welcome to join you in this class, but please no siblings.
Big Brothers & Big Sisters
Your children may have lots of questions about your pregnancy, and a few anxieties about what life will be like with a new baby around! Crittenton’s special class for siblings-to-be can help them learn about the coming event in a positive way, and participate fully in all the preparation.
Children will tour the Birthplace and learn where mom will stay. They’ll hear a story, ask questions and get a special coloring book. They’ll also pick up helpful pointers about caring for the newest member of the family, children ages 3 and up.
Infant Massage
For parents & babies 4 wks-8months. Helps babies to sleep more deeply. Stimulates immune system. Relaxing & soothing for parent & baby
